About Jonathan Isaksson

Jonathan Isaksson was born in Pietarsaari, Finland, in 1982.
Growing up in a musical family and in a town noted for its lively music scene, he started taking piano lessons at age 7 but switched instrument to guitar at age 11. In 1996 he formed his first band, in which he also started to sing lead vocals and write his own material. For the next ten years he was playing with different bands (garage-punk band "The Tumbling Dice" among others), releasing numerous EP records, writing songs and getting inspired by the music of artists like Tom Waits, Tom Petty, Ryan Adams and Bruce Springsteen. After moving to Turku and getting a Master's degree in history (specializing in 1960's political music and counterculture), he worked a couple of years as a professional entertainer on cruise ships and in bars.
As of 2009, he is working as program host and cruise manager on the Baltic Sea while still pursuing his musical career. In 2012 he released his debut album as a solo artist, entitled "This Is the Sound of a Heart Breaking".
