The action at Pyhäjoki

April 16, 1808, R=Jakov Petrovitj Kulneff S=Georg Carl von Döbeln

While the deep snow made the operations harder in this battle that was one of the first to be fought as the Swedish first retreat ended. The Russians had been following the Swedish army up north, while it had left large parts of Finland to Russian occupation. The skirmish at Pyhäjoki saw Döbeln and Kulneff fight a lively battle but Döbeln soon retreated all according to the high commander Klingspors initial plan.
