The action at Pulkkila

Sandels, was marching east to liberate those parts of the country from russian occupation, when he met Obuhof at Pulkkila. A russian troop was surrounded at pulkkila. Desperately they tried to break out but were forced back to a nearby village, which they defended with great bravery. The russian commander finally had to surrender to the attacking swedes. Later Sandels conducted a victourious campaign against the russian forces under Barclay de Tolly in the eastern parts of the country (around Kuopio).
