The seabattle of Palva Sund

September 18 1808, R=? S=Salomon von Rajalin

After the Swedish victory at Grönviksund, the King immediately started planning for a major landing of troops on the mainland. At Palva Sund a major Russian fleet, trying to sail north, was engaged by the Swedish. An intense battle was fought between the two forces, whereas the Swedish were forced to retreat to Kahiluoto.

At Kahiluotot the Swedish made a stand and fought off daily Russian attacks. In the meatime a Swedish force of about 4000 troops was landed at Lokalaks. These forces advanced for some time, but met increasingly hard Russian resistance and finally pulled back. They were evacuated on the ships.
