Bilateral Study Visit
Between ELSA Wasa and ELSA Budapest, 2002

ELSA Wasa and ELSA Budapest organised a bilateral study visit in the autumn of 2001 and in the spring of 2002. In late October 2001 six members of ELSA Wasa visited the beautiful town of Budapest. The programme was very fruitful with sightseeings to the Castle, the Matthias Church, the Margaret Island and many other historical and cultural places. Of course, we also visited a lovely thermal bath and went up the hills of Buda. We got to see the very cute town Szentendre as well as experience "the City of Wine and Grape" - Eger - , where we tasted the local wine.  A visit to the impressive Parliament was also on the schedule. We all made some very good friends and looked so much forward to seeing them again in February in Vaasa.

When the Hungarians visited us in Vaasa, the winter was at its peak. We spent a weekend at a cottage, had snow ball fights and quite a lot of sauna. Ice hole swimming was also included. We listened to a lecture about Finnish Law and the Finnish Constitution, visited the Court of Appeal and did some sightseeing.  A trip to Helsinki took place at the end of the week, where we visited the Parliament and did some more sightseeing. Most of our Hungarian friends stayed in Helsinki for another few days and participated in the ICC seminar  "On the Way to the Hague". Then came the time for them to leave and we were very happy to have met such wonderful friends, but also very sad to have to say good bye.
