Homemade PDA screen protector

A small piece of dust can easily scratch the screen of your PDA when you apply pressure to it with your stylus. If you want to keep your PDA in mint condition, it is a good idea to keep a screen protector on the screen.. These can be ordered online, but I didn't feel feeding over-charging companies. This is what I did:

1.I took my PDA (a palm IIIc), measured the screen including the graffiti area to 8x6cm.

2. I took a hobby knife and cut perpendicularly 9cm from the edge of some overhead-paper. And another cut, perpendicular to the first; 7cm from the edge. I used overhead-paper, but I bet there are some better alternatives. Now you should have a 9x7cm piece of transparent paper. It's a good idea to round the edges off a bit, so that they won't scratch or cut anything.

3. Now to the tricky part. Make sure your PDA has got room for inserting the protector, check carefully by sticking one edge in and 'feel' all around the screen. Before you insert the protector, make sure that the protector and the screen is lint- and dust-free. Carefully insert the protector under all edges, you'll probably have to bend it around a bit.. it's quite tricky. Be careful not to put any fingerprints on the side that will be against the screen, fingerprints on the outer side can be wiped off when the protector is in place.

4. Tada, you're done. To the left you can see my PDA without a protector, and on the picture to the right you can see it with a protector. I've noticed that the screen looks less glossy with a protector on it. OH-paper gets marked by your stylus after a while, especially the graffiti area. I've noticed that I've had to use slightly more pressure when tapping and writing on my PDA. Better an easily-scratched protector that can be changed now and then, than a screen with scratches that are there forever.
