Britney Spears

Britney Jean Spears. Born on December 2, 1981, was born ready. Born to perform, born to sing, and born to one day, make millions. Not just millions of dollars, but millions of people happy. Her mother said she could dance before she could walk! And that's where it all would start, dancing. As soon as Britney could stand, she became very interested in music and danced as soon as she was steady on her feet. She would perform for anyone who came into her 3-bedroom, cottage style home in Kentwood, Louisiana. Living with her mother, Lynne Spears, father, Jamie Spears, and two siblings, Jamie Lynne and Bryan Spears. She would perform skits with her cousin and best friend, Laura Lynn. They would perform, sing, and attend local talent competitions together. They grew up together and loved putting on shows. Britney would attend tumbling, ballerina, and tap classes. Excelling in tumbling she moved to a higher level. Moving to a gym in Covington, an hour drive away, and winning several state titles at her level. It was obviously well worth it, but Britneys love was floor exercise, where she could really bust a move! But Britneys schedule and time clashed, 3 hours of driving a day took its toll.

Britney stayed with it till she was about nine, then returned to dancing. She felt that gymnastics wasn't fun anymore, and she was falling behind. Her mother asked her what she wanted to do, and when Britney said that it was enough, well, enoughs enough. Britney then joined a dance company and went all over the state dancing and singing in local competitions. Britney would sing and dance solo and/or with a group. Not really caring, as long as she got to do her thing! Her mother once enrolled her into a beauty competition, just for fun to see what it was like. And when Lynne saw what these mothers were telling their kids, she stopped immediately. Lynne would always tell Britney that no matter what, she did her best and never quit. You win some you lose some. But the mothers at the beauty competition would tell their kids they didn't win because they weren't pretty enough. Lynne being the mother she is, certainly didn't want her child exposed to this negative behavior and never went to another beauty competition again. She felt Britney was beautiful enough and moved on. And since Britney WAS beautiful enough, there wasn't a problem! Britney never felt the need to enter any type of competition twice, claiming that if she did that, she would "be so tacky".

Then an audition held in Atlanta came up for the Mickey Mouse Club. A break that Britney hoped would boost her up to becoming a famous singer. All her hopes and dreams came down to these auditions, everything she had worked for,  in the hands of a producer. Then, after days of try-outs, she became a finalist! But, due to her age, she didn't get the part. The sad and shocked Britney was ready to go home, when a producer had spotted her talent, and said that Britney and her mother should go to NY to get her an agent! Of course, they did. And ended up in an "extended" stay.  Spending 3 years in New York, Britney studied at the Off-Broadway Dance Center and at the Professional Performing Arts School. It seemed as though everyone knew Britneys face, even if they didn't exactly know her name. Premiering in seven commercials, and an off Broadway production Ruthless, it seemed as though Britney was getting exactly what she was looking for! Playing the evil child in Ruthless, based on the 1956's The Bad Seed, was a treat for Britney, she even says she liked playing the evil child! But the time came when Britney turned 11, and finally got those Mickey  Mouse ears she wanted! Singing, dancing, acting, it was everything Britney had in her to do. And since she was the youngest, she "got pampered more than the others". Which was fine by her! But unfortunately, MMC was in its last  years, and Britney was only on for 2 years before it collapsed. Leaving Britney and her colleges on there own. Britney had decided to return home, and be a normal teen. But as quickly as she returned home, the more quickly the urge came back to perform and sing. Spending only a year as a normal freshman, she missed traveling, dancing, performing, and most of all, singing. At 15, Britney had the chance to audition for an all girl group Innosence. She liked the idea, but always had the vision as a solo singer. And ended up going after that idea instead. After putting together an audition tape, she went back to New York. After an intense meeting, Britney was finally singed to Jive Records. Britney would never be the same old 15 year old again, she would be the luckiest 15 year old around!

Britney was known before she became a huge star. Performing in malls in the area, and an opening act for the rising stars, N*Sync, she was recognized. She wanted to quickly get out a single and an album as well. Getting together  with producer Max Martin, she found the perfect song. "Baby One More Time" captured literally millions, as it quickly came out was as quick as it became the #1 hit in the country. Not only the #1 single, but the number 1 album as  well. She was the first female ever to have both a single and album #1, selling over 1.6 million of them in the first week! Coming out with Sometimes, (You Drive Me) Crazy, Born To Make You Happy, and From the Bottom Of My Broken Heart from her first album, and all of them being #1 hits as well. Britney was flourishing, and had everyone in her spell. She had also dodged some of the hardest rumors ever laid on a star. One of them being breast implants, another being dating Prince Williams. All of them have been denied, hence their name: rumors. But she has cooped with  them well, and showed that she can beat the tabloids and come through as an amazing artist.

Now Britney is out with her sophomore album, "Oops… I Did It Again". And it to sold millions of copies in its first week. The single won multiple awards, and everyone was once again caught in Britneys wrath. Her next singles so far, are Lucky and Stronger. Both have made the number 1 chart list as well. She had a 3 million-dollar house in her hometown of Kentwood, Louisiana. And bought another million dollar apartment in her second home of New York. She is working on her third album, due sometime in Spring/Summer of 2001. She says as she grows older and matures, so will her music. Everyone is waiting for her third album, and as most people say: This is Britneys world, we just live in it.
